Rod Yates Austin 7 Ulster

Rod Yates & His Austin 7 Ulster Bodies

Rod Yates has earned a strong reputation within the Austin 7 community for producing well-proportioned, traditionally built Ulster-style bodies that look right and work well on real cars. His bodies are known for their faithful shape, tidy aluminium work, and an understanding of what Austin 7 builders actually need — not over-styled, not modernised, just properly executed coachwork.

Over the years, Rod’s Ulster bodies have become a familiar and trusted sight on Austin 7 specials, valued for their consistency, craftsmanship, and honest approach to vintage coach building.

Why continue Rod Yates bodies with Duckworth Coachworks

Duckworth Coachworks has acquired Rod Yates’ original Austin 7 Ulster tooling to ensure this respected body design continues rather than disappears. Our aim is not to redesign or reinterpret Rod’s work, but to carry it forward exactly as intended.

To maintain continuity, Rod is working with us on the first builds, helping ensure that the standards, details, and overall quality remain true to his original work. The same tooling, the same approach, and the same attention to detail are being used.

For the first 10 bodies, we are also honouring Rod’s previous pricing, while we assess long-term viability — giving existing and new builders confidence that this continuation is being done properly and fairly.
